Clapham Opticians Bake for Crisis
Specsavers at Clapham Junction hosted a cake bake fundraiser to support Crisis, raising £412. The directors, Millie Bryant, Neil Bryant and Yannick Dyant matched the total, meaning £824 will go to helping people facing homelessness around Clapham. Source
Albert Gate Restoration Underway
Repair work is now in progress on Battersea Park's Grade II listed Albert Gate, badly damaged last week in a lorry collision. The fallen stonework has been carefully stored and hoarded off. Pedestrians and vehicles are being rerouted while restoration to heritage standards continues. Source
Streatham Primary School Roof Damaged in Fire
A blaze tore through Julian’s Primary School in Streatham just after midnight on 23 August, damaging much of the roof. Seventy firefighters brought it under control. No injuries were reported, but the school will remain closed. Source
Wandsworth GCSE Results Day
Students in Wandsworth collected GCSE results on results day, with passes in English and Maths and stories from Southfields, Ark Putney and Harris Battersea. Support is available for next steps, including A levels, apprenticeships and training through schools and council. Source
Bad Habits Bar Keeps Licence
A Clapham Junction venue, formerly Tequila Mockingbird and now rebranded as Bad Habits, has successfully kept its licence despite neighbour concerns over noise and management continuity. Wandsworth Council approved it with conditions - including a sound limiter, early window closures and regular resident meetings. Source

Baga Chipz brings a cheeky, x-rated cabaret to Two Brewers Clapham on Wednesday 27 August 2025. Expect belting vocals, disco classics, pub singalongs, sequins, wigs, feather boas and bawdy stories, plus a live audience question-and-answer and plenty of rude laughs. Source
Laid Bare at the Ritzy - Final Show (TONIGHT)
Laid Bare hosts its 100th and final upstairs gig at the Ritzy on Wednesday 27 August. The much-loved South London acoustic night, featuring curated acts and poetry, celebrates years of community spirit and creativity with free entry from 7.30 pm. Source
Craft Comedy Night - The Craft Beer Co. Brixton (TONIGHT)
The Craft Beer Co. Brixton hosts another free stand-up comedy night on Wednesday 27 August. Doors open at 7 pm with the show kicking off at 7.30 pm. Expect award-winning comedians- many fresh from Edinburgh Fringe- and great drink deals. 18+ only. Source
Brixton’s First Beer & Wine Festival
Brixton launches its inaugural Beer & Wine Festival this autumn. From 2-28 September, enjoy local wines across Brixton Village, free mini-fairs on Sundays, £3 festival packs (50p to school gardens), discounts, live music and community cheer. Beer festival follows 1 October-2 November. Source
