Stockwell Gardens Healthy Trial

Lambeth Council will launch a six month trial Healthy Neighbourhood in Stockwell Gardens this September. Traffic filters, greenery, seating and a new loading bay will be introduced to cut through traffic, improve safety and make streets more welcoming for residents. Source

The Cabin Heats Up Clapham

Clapham Common is getting its first outdoor sauna and cold plunge, called The Cabin, opening this November next to the Splashpad. Expect hot boxes, icy dips and a cosy spot for coffee or smoothies, with booking info and prices yet to be finalised. Source

Law Student’s Fare-Dodging Drama

A law student was caught fare-dodging at Clapham Junction. He tried buying an e-ticket on the spot, blaming his slow phone, but the inspector realised the train could not have arrived so fast. Panicking, he said his life was finished but later paid the fine. Conviction can massively impact a lawyer’s career. Source

Overground Suspended by Casualty

An Overground service was suspended after a casualty on the line, with emergency crews called to the tracks. Services were halted on the affected section, causing major disruption for London commuters. The cause… a SWAN. Source

Hepatitis Testing Hits the Community

King’s College Hospital and the Caribbean and African Health Network have launched free, confidential hepatitis B and C drop-in testing sessions at Brixton Library and Lewisham Shopping Centre. They offer liver health checks, support services, and early diagnosis for higher-risk South East London communities. Source

Clapham Junction Cyclist Danger

Clapham High Street has been named Britain’s most dangerous spot for cyclists, with 23 crashes at the Gauden Road and Lendal Terrace junction between 2020 and 2023. Campaigners blame poor junction design that puts bikes and vehicles into repeated conflict. Source
