Harry Lloyd Dodges Driving Ban

Game of Thrones actor Harry Lloyd was caught speeding twice in Clapham in one day but avoided a driving ban. He already had nine penalty points. The court took into account family pressures, including care for his children, before issuing a fine. Source

Maureen’s Kitchen Fights Hunger

Brixton’s Maureen’s Kitchen, run from Maureen Tyne’s home off Coldharbour Lane, is gaining recognition for giving up to 100 free meals a day to local children hit by the cost of living crisis. The much loved spot also serves classic Jamaican dishes. Source

Brixton Clink Restaurant at Risk

The Clink Charity’s restaurant at HMP Brixton faces closure unless it wins the renewal of its contract with the Ministry of Justice. It’s the last of its prison-run restaurants left, after others at Cardiff, High Down and Styal closed. Community leaders and experts warn its loss would hit rehabilitation hard. Source

Two Hospitalised After Streatham Blaze

Fire crews tackled a blaze in Streatham shortly after midnight. Two people were taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by about 1 am. Source

Streatham Outraged Over Penny-Farthing Theft

Local resident Robert had his distinctive 56-inch Trott & Sons penny-farthing stolen from Streatham High Road. The bike’s absence sparked community uproar and an appeal for its return. Thankfully, it was later found and has been returned to him. Source

Windmill Brixton is set for a night of sharp sounds and raw energy as Chicago’s dream-rock outfit Feller headlines alongside London punk crew Mandi and the electro-driven Star City. Expect bold riffs, restless rhythms and plenty of noise. Source

ColourScape @ Clapham Common

A large, immersive art installation that is wheelchair accessible and suitable for all ages. Looks super weird and wonderful! Tickets

EBBB, Elison, 404, Marina Moore

Windmill Brixton presents a wild-card lineup on Thursday 25 September with EBBB exploring noisy goth-rock, Elison bringing noodly post-punk vibes, 404 dropping experimental electronics and Marina Moore weaving dreamy darkwave textures. Doors at 7:45 pm. Tickets about ÂŁ6. Source

Bianca’s Gay Agenda

Part of Lambeth Fringe, this comedy night at Bread & Roses Theatre on 25 September features Bianca Boorer hosting Barb Barrick, Jordan Bonner and Lucy Jenner. Expect queues, queer stories, juiciest tea, dyslexia, mixed race tales and bawdy jokes. Tickets ÂŁ10 (ÂŁ8 concessions). Source

The Blues Kitchen Brixton puts on an all-night party 26 September with live music and DJs spinning hip-hop, Afrobeats and R&B till 3 am. A great night to dance, vibe and catch the late hours. Source

I’m Sorry, Emil, Shoplifting1080p, Bearhug

Windmill Brixton hosts a raw showcase of experimental, noise-punk and emotional hardcore sounds with three rising acts: Im Sorry, Emil, Shoplifting1080p and Bearhug. Expect fierce vocals, feedback, and relentless energy. Doors at 7.45 pm. Tickets ~ÂŁ6. Source

Drainfly, Djank, Erin Snape, Cherry I

Windmill Brixton welcomes a diverse night of fresh, cutting-edge musicians on 28 September. Drainfly leads a lineup with Djank, Erin Snape and Cherry I bringing post-punk, art-noir and introspective indie vibes. Expect raw energy and honest soundscapes. Source

Fiscal Harm, Rhiannon Hope, Wildwood Daddy, Floco

Windmill Brixton brings together four distinct voices on 29 September: Fiscal Harm’s post-industrial weight, Rhiannon Hope’s melodic edge, Wildwood Daddy’s eerie folk textures, and Floco’s dense experimental ambience. Expect unexpected turns and emotional kicks. Source
