Oasis Children's Venture, a Stockwell-based charity that has supported local young people for over 40 years, has launched a crowdfunder to save three of its vital community sessions from permanent closure. Rising costs and reduced funding have left the organisation facing some of its toughest choices yet. Source

Asbestos Found in 13 Wandsworth Buildings Used by Children ☣️

Wandsworth Council's own paperwork lists only five buildings with asbestos, but a Putney.news investigation has identified thirteen, including a school last surveyed in 2012. The council has yet to confirm when any of the affected buildings were last properly checked for safety. Source

Brixton Man Stuck in Hospital for Eight Months Over Care Package Dispute 🏥

Ravi Mehta, a 36-year-old Brixton man with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, has been stuck in hospital since September 2025 after his NHS board stopped his 24-hour home care package. He was admitted for a routine three-day ventilator appointment and has been unable to leave since. His family has launched a petition urging the NHS to reinstate his care so he can finally go home. The Blues Kitchen fires up for an Afrobeats-fuelled Friday night celebrating the music of Nigerian superstar DAVIDO, one of the biggest names in African music. Expect a high-energy party atmosphere with all the anthems, all the vibes and a dancefloor that won't stop until late. Source

The Windmill's beloved annual summer celebration returns for another year with nine bands, a free BBQ and the kind of chaotic, joyful energy that only this Brixton institution can produce. A proper community day out for anyone who loves live music, cheap beer and brilliant surprises. Source

No Trixx head to the Windmill for a Tuesday night of no-nonsense underground music in one of Brixton's most beloved DIY venues. What it says on the tin: no gimmicks, no filler, just a raw live set from a band who mean business. Source
